The President buys beer in Iowa

While I could be critical of the beer he bought (Budweiser), I will actually give the President a pass here.  At many of these events, InBev has such a strangle hold – that getting any beer of quality in is next to impossible, and you have to make do with what you have.  Fair enough.

However, to single out someone like he did – and then refuse to buy them a beer is a bit of a dick move.  That individual was exercising his right to free speech, and that would have made an excellent photo op and story (if the guy put the sign away) – showing that the President can reach across party lines and possibly find a new voter. Possibly having a bit of discussion to understand the man’s views and to explain his own.

I drink all the time with people of differing political or religious beliefs, that's what the camaraderie of drinking is all about.

Totally out of touch and not cool.

Four more beers! Obama buys Budweiser for Iowa State Fair voters

President Obama stopped by the Iowa State Fair yesterday and bought voters beer at the Bud Tent.

“Hey everyone who's over 21, you gotta buy a beer!” Obama said, according to the pool report, as he stopped by the party tent where one person was holding a Romney sign

When asked if he was buying, Obama said, “Let me see what’s in my wallet.”

As the crowd cheered “Four more beers!” the president relented.

“I’ll tell you what, except for Romney sign, I’ll buy beers for ten people,” he said.

The president is visiting Iowa as part his “Ground Force One” bus tour of the state.
